And you definitley caught Zack! I could see him feeling betrayed by the others; they refuse to follow his orders any more. They've become seperate from him, which is sort of his own fault for sending them off in teams and pairs and telling them to split up. Maybe if they had stayed together as a team he would have had a lot more sway, but now they're independent entities. *gasp* ^_~ Fantastic glimpse of Zack! I just wish there was more of him in the series and the fandom.
Author's Response:
I adore Zack.
Couldn't you see him viewing the fact that Max brought him into unfamiliar territory, wounded and vulnerable, and invited strangers into his personal life as an act of betrayal? I remember thinking when I watched the episode, OMG if you want to put yourself at risk, go ahead, but leave Zack out of it! :P What can I say, I look out for my boy!
I kind of agree with you that itwas partially his fault (the distance betweent hem) due to separating them, but I think he also kept them safer by not being in large groups, no matter how hard that might have been for him and for them. But as for not following orders anymore? One would think he'd get it, right? I mean, ten years on the outside, not living and working and training constantly as soldiers... you get a little lax. Besides, the boy you looked up to as children is now a man - but then again, you're all grown up, too...
Poor Zack. It wasn't ever gonna be easy for him.
Thanks for the compliment! He's one of my favorites, even if I don't write much of him. I think there was so much wasted potential with his character.
Thank you for reading and commenting on everything :) I really am pleased that you enjoyed them :)

I always did like that scene where Asha just crashes on the couch. I also wondered what would've happened; could they have made it work? Or would Asha always be after Logan? The unanswered questions! ^_^
Author's Response:
It made me laugh so hard at the time. I couldn't imagine anyone in their right mind going home with someone who looked like Alec and not making with the hokey pokey!
I'm also not sure that Asha was so much hung up on Logan as some might think. I think they had a lot in common (fighting the good fight or at least championing their causes and such) and that we were led to believe that they became close while Max was in Manticore, but even though Asha did kind of seem into Logan, she didn't appear to be so caught up in the idea that she wouldn't pursue other options.
I don't really think she would have worked out with Alec long-term, but they might have had a nice casual something for a while - no strings, probably - if they went into it with mutual feelings.
The unanswered questions, indeed =|
Date: 02 Nov 2009 05:04 PM Title: Logan - Guilt
Totally Logan! Zack is right, Max could be killed for staying in Seattle, but she wants to be with Logan. Oh, the guilllllt. Logan attempts to get her to leave, but she just won't stay away, and he won't send her away again. I'm enjoying these drabbles! ^_^
Author's Response:
I think it was more than her just wanting to be with Logan - that she wanted to be needed, not just wanted. She was willing to leave but once she heard Logan was dying, that part of her reared its ugly head again and she forgot all about leaving (and the reasoning behind it.) But yeah, I think Logan could have worked harder to get her to, should have tried to convince her that even though Zack turned himself in for her in the end, what about next time? And of course there would be a next time. Manticore was on to her, Lydecker knew what she looked like... and he didn't push her away for her safety. I'd say that's a nice guilt-trip.
I'm glad you enjoyed these :) Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, too!

Dude, I would've wanted to kill him too. I like the reasoning behind Max's letting Lydecker live. I always thought life might've been easier if she had just offed him that day. Still, he may be useful in the future, so might as well let him live. For now. ;) Nice drabble; off to read the others! ^_^
Author's Response:
I'm so sorry I didn't respond sooner - I could have sworn I had *hangs head*
Totally! I also would have rallied for killing the man who made them all so miserable... Thanks for reading and commenting!

Zack is one of those Is-He-Really-That-Shut-Out as he seems-types.. Cus that's what he's normally potrayed. I can't really get my head around it. And don't worry, Shay, you're very very pretty through your words.
Author's Response:
*smothers laughter*
I never really bought into Zack being quite that detached and unfeeling, but the way his character came across was just...uptight and pretty anal at times. I tried to keep true to his character here.. Anyway, regardless, I think that he had to be feeling betrayed when Max was so careless with his safety. That's where the inspiration for this one came from, at least :)
Hmm... 'pretty through my words' huh? I knew I should have handed out headshots first! :P
Thanks for reading and reviewing, hon :) I hope you enjoyed reading these as much as I did writing them!
Date: 01 Nov 2009 03:10 AM Title: Zack - Mission
This is wonderful! I love how you captured Zack. It's so easy to picture him thinking this way. I love how practical all his thoughts are. He thinks just like a soldier in enemy territory. I love how frustrated he is with the others too... he just can't see why they'd risk their freedom that way.
Great work as always!
Author's Response:
This was probably my favorite (after Case) of the drabbles.
I love Zack's character - even if he's a bit uptight at times :P - and I after that scene in "Cold Comfort" where he wakes up in Logan's apartment with Bling dressing/checking his wounds, just seeing his expression and hearing his reaction when Max told him that both Bling and Logan knew all about them... he looked not just furious but so betrayed. Or at least I imagined that he felt that way. It's perfectly in character for him, in any case.
Max went off and laid bare all about herself - fine, okay, if you want to do that it's your business. But to expose Zack and potentially everyone else throug him... it just a complete breach of trust. Between Tinga and Max, it wouldn't surprise me if he felt that way.
Thanks again! Your comments throughout this entire project have been brilliant and warmly welcomed and appreciated! *hugs*

Hmm... Wondered what would have happened. Nice to know that she doesn't think he's not as bad as some people may think.
Author's Response: Sure, he may have had a repuation, but I think that Alec's a decent guy beneath his masks and armor. I'd like to think Asha would pick up on that. :)
Date: 29 Oct 2009 07:44 AM Title: Asha - Regret
This was wonderful! I could hear Asha's voice perfectly, and it has a terrific, bitter-sweet feel to it. It leads in so perfectly to the conversation Alec and Asha have in "Hello, Goodbye," just before Alec tells her to leave him alone. Poor Asha.
Author's Response:
Glad you enjoyed it!I wanted to inject a little of that wistfulness, even if later, Alec's kinda of jerk (even if he's doing it for the right reasons) and we all know that he's better than that. That convo was sad and enlightening all at once...indeed, poor Asha.
Date: 29 Oct 2009 07:40 AM Title: Logan - Guilt
I really enjoyed this one, and the foreshadowing in it! :) Usually Max is the only one portrayed as feeling like she's the one to blame, so it was great to see that Logan feels responsible too.
Author's Response: Thank you! I was just struck by Logan's face at the end and though it could have been my imagination, it was almost as if guilt and worry flitted across his features for a second there.

Still, I can't help kinda wishing she shoulda kick his ass just a lil' bit...
...and he may be needed one day.
- Is the only thing stopping her, though.
Author's Response:
Hey, hon!
Yeah, I agree with you. There was just so much tension and underlying hate and grief there. Poor Max.
I don't know that the only thing stopping he from letting him die then and there was that he might be needed in the future - I'd like to think that not wanting to kill someone was part of that motivation - but it probably was. I love Lydecker's character but at this point in the show I couldn't help but wish that Max hadn't reacted like Zack would have - by ridding them all of a certain threat to their continued freedom.
Thanks for reading and commenting!
Date: 26 Oct 2009 03:57 AM Title: Max - Reprieve
I don't know if I would have been able to sit next to him either. I love how you captured Max's reaction. It's so easy to imagine all those emotions running through her mind at that moment. And I love that she was still thinking ahead, looking at the bigger picture. :)

I barely remember the episode, but I remember feeling bad for her. I't s nice to read something from her perspective, this is a first timer for me. She's often written as someone selfish, (which she is but there's more to it than just that, which you just showed here). I mean there must have been something in her that made Logan fall for her, right?
Author's Response:
Thanks! I've only ever used Valerie in one other fic and that was a reflection piece from Logan's POV when he watches Dalton crushing on a girl :) But I always thought there had to have been something special about Valerie for Logan to have chosen her and then married her, hoping to spend the rest of their lives together.
But despite the changes she's made and things she has overcome, Valerie is still only human and she has her current weaknesses. I'm glad that she didn't come across as completely selfish or self-serving. I wanted to show that she was regretful, but that she was also desperate and she knew Logan's good and caring nature and was willing to exploit it to her own ends.
Thank you for reading and commenting!

I love how you captured Valarie's voice. :) I could imagine her speaking in my mind as I read. You did a fantastic job capturing the feeling that she's sorry, but she did it any way because she's desperate. Amazing work!
Author's Response:
Thank you! That is exactly what I was going for. I'm so glad it was clear. I really thought she was actually nice, and that she probably didn't want to betray Logan again but that she didn't know where else to turn and knew he would still be good to her - because, really, Logan is a good guy.
Thank you for reading, hon, and for your very kind comments.
Date: 19 Oct 2009 11:22 PM Title: Sketchy - Shift
I love the thought of Lydia apologizing! That is a wonderful twist. And I love it made Sketchy feel even more guilty. I've always like Sketchy, but it really was rotten of him to do that. You did a great job capturing that! :)
Author's Response:
LOL when I sat down with this one I thought - ooh, hee! Lydia just had the stuffing scared out of her thanks to Max... - and figured that the fear might follow her arround and she would do well to apologize to Sketchy - and Natalie - again. It's not like she would have known Natalie was really a blonde and not a brunette... (Of course we can hope she felt genuinely guilty and apologetic... :P)
They seemed to completely forget about Sketchy's infidelity. I loved him as a character but you're abolutely right - it was pretty darned rotten. At least there is no further mention of such behaviors so we can hope he learned from his experiences. Also, I don't remember much, if anything, about Natalie after that. So I got the chance to combine all these elements in one piece and voila! :)
Thank you for your kind comments, sweetie! I always respect your opinion greatly!
Date: 19 Oct 2009 07:33 AM Title: Case - Pretend
This is so beautifully done. :)You did a fantastic job capturing the sense that Case is wise beyond his years, and I love the tangible sadness you capture through the whole thing.Amazing work!
Author's Response: Thank you! I was a bit worried about that, so your comments were just what I needed to put my mind at ease. *hugs*
Date: 17 Oct 2009 09:50 PM Title: Maria - Initially...
This was really interesting! I could easily picture her thinking that way. She seemed like such a sweet girl, it's easy to imagine her feeling horrible guilt because she felt so much relief at not being alone anymore.
Author's Response:
*wipes brow* Thank you. I was worried this might come across a bit cold and Maria wasn't cold at all. She was sweet and it was so sad to read into what her life was like. Thanks for commenting, hon!
Date: 16 Oct 2009 11:07 PM Title: Lydecker - Pride
This was wonderful! :)I love the way you captured Lydecker's thoughts. You perfectly portrayed that almost fatherly attitude he has towards his "kids," while still showing the cold way he views them.Amazing work! :)
Author's Response:
Thank you, sweetie! :)
I adore Lydecker. I love his character on so many levels and he is such fun to work with. There is a lot of flexibility with him - he can be so many different things and I like to try and explore those many facets.
But it's definitely challenging to channel a realistic Deck into so few words. Thanks for the vote of confidence :)
Date: 14 Oct 2009 06:24 PM Title: Break - Someday
I really enjoyed this! :)
You captured Break's personality so well in so few words, and I really like his thoughts about Max, and how he realizes that she's not what she seems to be at first glance. I also love the last line. It would have been fun to see Break again on the show. I wonder how he reacted to the transgenics, and if he recognized Max.
Author's Response:
*is pleased* I really liked Break and had hoped that they would have brought him in at a later date. I mean, they brought Walter back, for goodness sake! Break at least had character! *sigh*
Thank you for your kind words, hon *hugs*
(Btw, I did end up reading your email but never got around to responding. It's almost like RL knows when I want to have fun... *pouts* I will get there, promise!)
