Lovely and very promising story, OBC.
The dynamics between your two characters were great and well written; a to and fro, even though White held the cards from second one, obviously.
Would you mind my asking for a sequel some time, pretty please?
Just one tiny thing, you said in the final sentence "[...] to drink some more, all hope of sleep for himself abandoned"... whereas you stated earlier that Alec put the Scotch away without opening the bottle (no offence). And I was a little sad that you didn't elaborate on why White had nowhere else to go.

Oh, how utterly delicious.
At first I questioned White's appearance but then I just laughed when it became apparent that good old White had picked up on certain vibes that hinted his presence might not be unwelcomed. Good on him for going to Alec to recuperate.
I love the tension that built steadily towards the end and remained, hovering when Alec left the room.
Awesome work, as always.
