Despite the sad ending, this was a nice vision of how things went on for the others decades after the final episode.
I'm actually glad that Cynthia was Alec's daughter because he had hidden himself in his exile for so many years, whereas Sketchy and Logan had a family of their own at least.
Even though Alec merely had a few years to get to know them, he found a way eventually to not be alone anymore - and had loved ones he could leave all his money and everything behind to. I'm sure his little family made his life in Scotland so much more worth living for! This certainly helped him find his peace in the end as well.

Your story has a very nice blend of happy and sad. I thought adding sketchy as the third was brilliant. It added some humour to the piece. Too bad you kept him dimwitted though, I would think that even him wouldn't have grown up. Particularly if he'd go by the name of Calvin.
And it's too bad you rushed so much, I have to admit, it's a trap I fall into a lot as well but there was so much more tension you could've built up in the story, like a trtansgenic version of mamma mia or something.
As for the ending, it matches the story beautifully, and it's a lovely image to end with, to know that at least some of the freak nation lives on.
Keep it up!
