I can really imagine that scene. The different facts that lead to such a interaction between the two of them.
It's very sad though.

I'm totally adding this one to my favs, it was that good. You know that is a much more remarkable addition, felt right, like it should've been that way to begin with. It's enormously marvelous, I haven't seen it put together this way, the idea that is. I like your version very much.

This is one of the few situations where I can see something sexual happen between Max and Alec, his extreme neediness on the one side and Max’s overwhelming responsibility (which I like to think is at least partially Logan’s influence) on the other resulting in a completely unromantic, desperate act to numb all the hurt from Rachel Berrisford’s death, the virus and the aftermath of Manticore's destruction. It all becomes very palpable the way you’ve done it, with such a sad atmosphere and a somewhat laconic tone.
