I love that they have all these little interludes, but I'm still surprised that the one thing she should always have at the forefront of her clever mind is that of self-preservation and survival. How does it work, going against everything and willfully and knowingly putting herself into a dangerous situations with the one person who has been out for her blood?
Not complaining! Absolutely adore these scenes and plots :D Just wonder what she was thinking to actually go ahead and do it - and I don't believe for a second that it was to get out of the rain :P cat or no!

Okay, you've secured my curiosity with this Ames/Max thing, so here I am, going from the bottom up. ^_^ Your dialogue is very believable, and I really like your descriptions, like the light reflecting off Max's jacket and the sound of the car heaters. I also like how they're still sort of mean to each other, but there's a bit of niceness showing through. White's last thought was great! ^_^ Off to read the next one!
