Love this! Such a lovely, right-on-the-money insight to Alec and his penchant for lead.
Max would totally cover any concern for him by not showing sympathy. However Alec wouldn't know what she was thinking, so he'd assume she didn't care.

Love this story. Especially the last line that gallantry is dead. More like having the grace to recieve gallantry is dead. At least on Max's side of things.
