have i mentioned how much i love this fic? alec's need is so raw here. and max is actually able to take a step toward him. the end, with alec back to his cocky self is perfect.

aw shucks, i'm blushing :P seriously, though, i can still remember writing this one. i know that i was still at that stage where i believed that alec was pining for max (sometimes i wonder if i outgrew that stage or not) and i was aiming for a lot of alec angst. it pleases me to know - even after all this time - that i managed that quite well (if readers' comments are any indication)

Hi. So I've been reading stories on this site for a while now, and feel a bit badly that I've never reviewed anything. So I'm actually taking the time to go back through to some of my favorite stories and post reviews for the authors whose writing I've enjoyed.
I very much enjoy your writing, and this is definitely one of my favorite max/alec one-offs. You're writing manages to convey emotion without being cloying or contrived, which is difficult to do. I also like that you don't try to twist the characters to be something other than what they are - Max is still a bitch ("Maybe a few more nights jackin' off in a deserted building will help you figure it out." - great line) and Alec is still trying to hide everything behind his facade.
I have also greatly enjoyed reading some of your longer stories, and intend to post reviews on a few of those as well. My apologies for not having reviewed before now (better late than never, I guess), and I do truly hope that you keep writing in this fandom as I very much enjoy reading your work.

I meant to respond to your reviews when you first commented, but it's been a rather busy month for me and I just haven't had much time to do anything fun. Now, that isn't really a good excuse and in truth I shouldn't be offering excuses at all! but I figure I owe you an explanation - especially since you were so kind as to comment and it was so very nice to hear from you!
Heather, thank you soooo much for the kind review! It's always nice to hear when someone appreciates my writing and even more when it is because I accomplished my goals - keeping my characters true to canon, expressing the emotions correctly and delivering a quality fic that others enjoy reading as much (if not more!) than I did writing it. So again, thank you for reading and reviewing and I'm so happy to have entertained!

OKay, that first had me tearing up, cause anguished!Alec is so heartbreaking.
Then of course I was frantically fanning myself. Cause seriously, majorly hot.
And then of course the pay off at the end that had me grinning like a loon.
Author's Response: I used to come up with most of the standalones after being challenged in chat with various people. It can be rather annoying at times :P But it was fun to write and I'm glad you enjoyed it :D Thanks for commenting, hon! You've made my day so many times, I'm beginning to lose count!
